The Committee

The general running of the Club is undertaken by the Committee made up from senior members of the Club. The Committee consists of:


President: Martin Osborne
Overall control of the club, chairs Committee meetings and attends A.U. and S.U. meetings regarding the club. Martin learnt to row in 2005 as a member of the SUBC novice squad. He is currently studying towards the fourth year of a computer science degree.



Secretary: Fran Woolman
Fran joined SUBC in 2005 as a complete novice and has since gone on to row in the 2nd Senior 8. Fran is now in her third year studying Adult Nursing.




Treasurer: Ashley Neve
Ash was elected as Treasurer at the AGM and is in charge of the club finances, correctly allocating the budget and collecting debt from the rowers.





Men's Captain: George Clarkson
George started rowing at Abingdon School where he competed in the 2nd VIII for three years running. He represented Great Britain at under 16 level in the coxless four winning a gold medal. Also while at school George helped coach the junior women's squad at City of Oxford rowing club. At Southampton George Stroked the 1st VIII at the Eights Head and at Henley Royal Regatta.

Women's Novice Captain: Sophie Woodroffe
Sophie started rowing with SUBC in 2005 while in her first year at the University. During her time at the club she has won a BUSA gold medal and lost her novice status last year with a qualifying win at Reading Amateur Regatta. She is in her final year of a Maths degree.

Kit Secretary: Alastair Robertson
Alastair, studying Population Science, joined SUBC as a complete novice in 2005. Since learning about rowing from scratch, he has had success making the finals of the Freshers 8 category at BUSA regatta and Reading Sprints, and has spent the summer of 2006 competing for Peterborough City.




Webmaster: James Whayman
James started rowing at 13 and has been rowing for close to six years with Cheltenham College, Bermuda Rowing Club and SUBC. He is in his final year of a IT in Organisations degree.
