SUBC has always regarded the social side of rowing extremely important, allowing club members to form lasting friendships outside the confines of training schedules. We are renowned for being one of the most socially active clubs in the Athletic Union, and our members are always a major presence at Wednesday AU nights at the legendary 'Clowns and Jesters', easily recognisable in our Boat Club Red Jumpers! The club also takes bi-annual trips to the Isle of Wight, a time-honoured tradition that provides much material for future gossip, and has seen the blossoming of several boat club relationships...
The club hosts annual Christmas and Summer Balls, which provide the perfect opportunity for members of the club, 'stags' (old boys), and guests, to celebrate the club's successes.
