Sponsorship Information

Southampton University Boat Club was founded in 1929 and is one of the oldest and most prestigious clubs in the University. The club trains and coaches rowers of all abilities, competing against the top universities and rowing clubs from around the world. The club has produced numerous internationals including the Batten sisters who won win silver in the quad at the Sydney Olympics (2000). Charlie Palmer is another SUBC success story, after learning to row at Southampton he raced in the 2006 Oxford-Cambridge Universities Boat Race and has made consecutive finals of Henley Royal Regatta in the Diamond Sculls, where he was beaten this year only by the reigning World Champion Mahe Drysdale.

Rowing is an extremely competitive sport that demands the greatest commitment and dedication and it is no surprise that the graduates from the Boat Club find themselves well suited for the pressures of challenging careers in the City. Southampton University is renown for academic and research excellence which has been shown by the reward of a Queen's Anniversary Prize for Further Higher Education. The University provides students with an environment in which they can thrive academically and in extra curricular activities.

SUBC continues to grow in success and in size. The 2006/7 season was the most successful in recent years and the club is striving to continue and build on this over the coming seasons.
