Sponsorship

Southampton University Boat Club is a forward thinking Boat Club which is ran by students for students. We are a centrepiece amongst the University's extensive list of societies as well as being the oldest-founded in 1904, this give us an enormous heritage which most societies and clubs simply cannot compete with. We would be an ideal sponsor for anyone looking to grow the awareness of their organisation in the tightly knit, but extensive world of rowing.

SUBC has a sponsorship proposal, available on request, detailing the various packages and options available to any interested companies or businesses. With options for branding on clothing, our equipment (such as oars, boats, and trailers) and many more opportunities, the publicity that you could achieve is limitless.

We are always on the lookout for new sponsorship opportunities, thus if you are interested please email us at subc.pr@gmail.com!

A great weekend for SUBC...

The competition was hot on Saturday at our 250m erg challenge. We had a lot of entries and some quick times in the morning from the men but Connor McQuillan took the win with a time of 39.6 seconds.
Although there were fewer challengers for the women's competition they still put forward some quick times. Just when we thought things were slowing down, Hannah Britain managed it in a time of 49.6 seconds.
Congratulations to both of you! Your prize is half price membership for SUBC for the year (you will both receive an email about it) and we hope you enjoy learning to row with us this year.

On Sunday we had the first of our two Welcome BBQs. We hope everyone who came down enjoyed trying out rowing on the ergs and even more so those who got to take their first strokes out on the water!
If you weren't able to make it fear not - we are hosting another BBQ and taster session this Wednesday from 13:00 till 16:00 at the watersports centre. Find our event for more details.

If you wish to join rowing this year remember to come to one of our membership meetings tonight or this Friday at 6pm on campus. And don't forget about our three-legged social this Wednesday starting at 6pm at the Stags.

Our squads have been putting up a good fight at the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Regatta this weekend.

The senior men took 4th place in the B final for Int8+ against some tough competition and left the rest of the crews in their wake, coming 1st in the Int4+ D final.

Our novice men put all their hard work over training camp into action and have come home with our best results of the weekend. On Saturday the 1st boat came 3rd in the MB4+ B final and the 2nd boat 4th in the C final (9th and 16th out of 65 crews). The second boat was also the fastest 2nd boat of any beginner 4+ that day!
Sunday saw our novice men's 8+ storm it down the course in the time trial, A&B semi-finals and the A final! They left it all on the water and came 4th in the MB8+ A final, narrowly missing out on the bronze medal! Well done boys!

Both women's squads competed yesterday and are currently awaiting their finals for today's categories.
The novice womens 1st boat was just pipped on the line (barely half a canvas!) and won 4th place in the WB4+ B final. The 2nd boat also raced well and came 5th in the D final.

The senior women raced in the WInt8+ category yesterday and took 2nd in the C final and are awaiting their time trial results for the finals for the WInt4+ category today.

Good luck today girls!

Last weekend our women's squads took to the Tideway in London to compete in the Women's Eights Head of the River Race. This 6.8km race marks the end of head race season so, after a tough season of training and racing, and with over 300 crews competing, SUBC's women were looking to come home with some solid race times.
WeHoRR is an international event, with some of the worlds top athletes competing along side clubs and crews of all levels.
Perfect conditions had anticipations high, waiting at the start.

Our Senior Women raced in the Intermediate University category and finished with a time putting them in 71st place - congrats on a top 100 finish ladies! The second crew also gave their race their all, coming 158th overall.

The Novice Women finished off their first head season racing in the Novice Academic category and finished in 181st and 282nd place overall.

Racing against the top times set by the GB rowers was never going to be easy but our results show a hard season of training has paid off, with our squads improving on last years results.

Well done ladies!

With SUBCs annual Easter training camp coming up in Soustons, South France, over the break its time to look ahead to regatta season and start smashing out those 2k tests!
Who else is excited?

March 4th saw the boat club packing up two trailers full of boats as the whole club headed to Reading for Reading University Head of the River. A great day of racing was had by all, promising good things as we come to the end of head season, with some strong results from all our squads:
The Senior Men came 5th and 10th in IM3.8+.
Both of our Novice squads powered their way down the course, with the Women coming 2nd and 7th in W.Nov.8+ and the Men coming 2nd in Nov.8+.
And our Senior Women brought out all the stops on the day to take home a win in W.IM3.8+.
Congrats to everyone who raced!

Last weekend the women's squads raced at Henley 4s and 8s Head Race. We had some great results from both the novices and the seniors.
The seniors placed 4th in W.IM3.8+ and 3rd and 6th in W.IM3.4+.
The novices came 2nd and 3rd in W.NOV.4+, missing out on 1st place by less than a second! As well as coming 3rd and 11th in W.NOV.8+.
Well done ladies!
We are now looking ahead to BUCS Head race this weekend where the senior women will be representing the club in fours, eights and a quad. Good luck!
A special thank you goes to Crewroom who kitted out the squad with the duffel bags seen in the picture! As well as providing us with a great selection of customised kit for our members. #SUBCrowing #morecakelesshate #crewroom
